I am an avid hiker and go through hiking boots within two-three years. I have light-weight day hikers, heavy winter boots, water-resistant rain boots, trail runners, water sandals, etc. These Zamberlan recently replaced my aging Swiss-made Raechle boots. Racehle now makes their boots in Romania. Zamberlan still makes their boots in Italy and the quality shows.

These boots, as expected, are heavy and stiff. They also run a half-size small so order accordingly. But they are also very comfortable and don't "squish" while walking in them. The Gore-Tex lining adds warmth to these boots. The outter leather is water resistant with Zamberlan's own HydroBloc system. The tongue has a stiff mould inside, part of its "Foot Wrapping System." This mould does not bother my foot, but people with high arches may find this uncomfortable.
