Great bang for your buck product.
These are comfortable, strong, wash well and look great. Durability that cannot be beat. These last forever and wash amazingly well. From decades of martial arts I have rather callused feet, which tend to kill socks. These socks take what my feet dish out, no worries. Wash after wash they keep on going too, no loss to form or the shape.
These are not just for hiking, or outdoors. You can get away with the Navy or Black on casual friday, but these are not really good for office use. If you work anyplace else, these are your friend. Overall theses are very comfortable; thin enough so you do not feel like you're wearing slippers, thick enough to be a great boot sock.
If you do wash them outdoors when hiking or camping, turn them inside out to dry. The wick properties will keep the sock from drying as rapidly if you do not do this.

I use them for work socks. I have sweaty feet. I wear steel toed boots. They work better then cotten socks for keeping my feet dry.

Outstanding comfort and long wear -- great socks,
March 29, 2010 This review is from: Wigwam Men's Hiking/Outdoor Pro Length Sock (Apparel)
I bought two pair of these socks from REI a few years ago, one gray heather and one dark khaki. They were so comfortable that I bought two backup pairs, in case they became unavailable later. The backups are still in the original packages, because the first two pairs refuse to wear out. They've been worn and washed countless times, and they still show almost no wear. They don't pill, either. I use these socks mostly as casual socks and for 2-4 mile outdoor walks; for hiking and serious outdoor activity that requires a hiking boot, I prefer a slightly thicker sock with a wicking liner. However, I've hiked in these socks, and they're fine. I wear the socks without shoes around the house, which is usually a death sentence for the sole, but not with these Ultimax socks. The socks wick well, and the inner loops provide a very comfortable cushion. These socks are a superior product and well worth the price.
