The sizing on these boots is very generous. I would definately not recommend sizing up even if you plan to wear thick, wool socks this winter. I thought the laces on these were decorative elastic, but in fact they are real laces that you can tie and tighten. They are warm and appear to be well made.
The only thing I don't like about these boots is that they are noisy. When I walk in them people can hear every step, and the inside has a zipper closure that has a metal zipper pull that constantly clinks while I'm walking. I prefer a more fitted, less noisy boot, but these will probably get a lot of wear this winter.

Bought these boots on October 5th 2010, Received my boots on October 13th 2010. It is now November 7th and worn the boots 4 times. Never in any kind of precipitation and the suede is peeling off and nobody will do anything about it. My tuff luck because I wore them 4 times. Do not buy from this company unless you have money to throw away. They DO NOT stand by their products!!!!!!!!!!

I followed the advice of other reviewers and ordered this boot a half size smaller than I usually wear. That was the right thing to do: they would have been too big in my usual size. I found the laces difficult to work with--the boot's default mode is quite wide and it's not easy to tighten them up, but with some extra energy it can be done. I have a fairly narrow foot, and find that there is lots of room inside, certainly enough to wear fairly thick socks if need be. The toe box is also roomy and the shoe is comfortable. I haven't had a chance to walk through any puddles yet, but they have been good in the snow, and I recommend them. Most of the boots I tried on earlier in the season weren't adjustable at all and I just walked out of them.
Added note in January: We've had some slush, and these boots are not made for slushing. My feet got pretty wet. Still, the boots dried up and still look good and feel comfortable. Just don't expect them to keep you dry in a puddle.
