I tried on several Timberland boots because it's one of my favorite brands. Decided on this one because the sole seemed to offer the best traction for the snow. I got these for snowshoeing so waterproofing was also important. Plus, I wanted a comfortable boot -- out of the box. Although not a super-stylish look, it gets 5 stars for comfort, safety and performance. I usually wear a 7 in Naot, but in Keen and most Merrell, a 7.5 is better. Same for this boot, a half-size up is roomy, but allows space for thick wool socks. Although it's a fairly narrow looking design, (compared to Keen) there is a LOT of room on top of and beyond the toes. In other words, this style doesn't have the "duck" look, but is just as comfortable; you can wiggle your toes. They are lightweight but have great arch and ankle support. The lacing would be better with another set, there's a little bit of a gap near the toes. The insert could be a bit cushier, I might replace it with Superfeet. I really like the...Read more

Very simply put...............the BEST boots I have ever worn, the MOST COMFORTABLE boots I've ever worn, the MOST SECURE FEELING boots I've ever worn and the MOST DURABLE boots I've ever worn. They are absolutely worth every penny. These boots will last a very long time, are well-made and extremely comfortable from the first time you put them on. For my money, these are the only boots to buy.

I grew up in Minnesota. You would think, being that I lived in such snowy, body freezing conditions, that I would know better. Nope. I took it upon myself to move when I finished school, not to somewhere warm, but to Boston. Smart move there. When I did move, I had left my boots at home in a box in my parents garage - yes I have a college degree, but you wouldn't think it. Needless to say, I went through a few years walking the snowy, slushy streets of Boston in my Chucks. Smart move Tara. (Needless to say, I learned to bring a few extra pair of socks to work - and would hang the wet ones on my desk drawers. I feel bad for my cube neighbors...no...I don't).
This year I wised up. After getting a small raise at work I said to myself, and to whomever would listen.." I SHALL BUY A PAIR OF BOOTS THIS YEAR!" And so I did. I researched. Studied. Put these Timberland boots in my Amazon cart - over thought it - took them out - put them back in - slept on it...and BAM...purchased...Read more
