I am an avid hiker and I am very pleased with these socks. I have a small foot, size 5 so it's difficult to find socks that fit a 4 - up range. i like to buy small bec they always tend to stretch a bit and you don't want your socks bunching up inside hiking boots - not fun! i had a ton of heavy weight socks and tried these to use for spring/summer. I love them. you simply have to have some thickness to a hiking sock. how can you expect to walk for miles and miles in thin socks? it's not going to happen. I suspect the other reviewer doesn't hike much or understand the workings of a good hiking sock. plus merino wool is very breathable making them more comfortable in warmer temps. plus if you wear gortex boots in the summer it's going to be almost impossible to not have slightly warm feet; nature of the beast. but these are great and i plan on grabbing a couple more prs.

First off, let me state that I love the comfy, soft fabric and the seamless toe. I love how Teko designs their socks! In addition, this sock keeps my feet warm, dry and comfy. These socks have performed well on a sopping wet hike of the Ozette Trail in the Washington coast AND ice climbing on the Coleman Glacier. Two very different activities, yet with the same result - happy feet. This sock allows excess heat to escape your foot and move the moisture away from to the outer layer of the sock. Thus keeping your foot dry, which helps keep them warm and prevent blisters. The Evolution Merino Midweight Hiking Sock has a nice about of cushion in the heel and toe to provide support for those areas of the foot which take a pounding, yet not too much to make it uncomfortable to put your boot on. I highly recommend these socks!
