Product Review

Steve Madden, the footwear fashion mogul of the 21st century, has immersed his company into virtually every aspect of the fashion industry. With his primary success and initial endeavor as a shoe designer, he has now expanded into other accessories such as handbags, belts, socks, dresses, watches and outerwear. The first Steve Madden shoes spoke to a young woman's independence, and today his handbags speak to that same "grown up" woman. As the Madden girl has matured and evolved, so has the brand; the sophisticated Steven by Steve Madden line represents a lifestyle. It is about embracing fashion, style and color while still maintaining that funky independence that first defined the brand 15 years ago.

I have been watching these boots and the shorter version for a while. The tall ones went on sale so I went for it but when they arrived they didn't have the vibram sole; just a smooth sole. However, they fit great and looked really good; I have a narrower foot, ankle and calf, and they fit snug, and have actually stretched out already, so dont be afraid of the boots being a bit tight. I usually wear a size 9 and the 9 fit true to size (I had actually tried an ankle version at a department store a while back and knew the 9 fit). I would of preferred the lug/vibram sole, but they still look good and work well with more feminine clothes now. I did order a second pair just to see if it was a random mistake, but the second pair were the same. I like them and have already worn them alot, but they were just not as pictured; keep that in mind.

I got the black ones in size 6. I normally wear 6.5, I would say these are true to size to slightly big as the 6 feels pretty good with thin socks. The color was more distressed looking that the photo, but it still looked nice. I love the height of the boot shaft, which hit about 2 inches below my knee, and I love the laces. They will actually fit ANY calf, in my opinion, unless you have a BMI under 15 or over 40, because you can unlace them and adjust accordingly. A lot of laces and a lot of work, but it will fit if you're willing to do the time.

I really am in shock about how nice these are. I wore them for the first time yesterday, all day, right out of the box with only a thin pair of socks and they were SO comfortable. I didn't feel any pressure points anywhere and absolutely no rubbing or blisters. This is shocking to me because the last pair of lace knee boots I bought rubbed enormous blisters on the backs of my ankles (they were Dr. Martens - and I am beginning to see a pattern with Dr. Martens because I just bought a pair of pink oxfords and they also created huge ugly blisters - either my ankles have changed since the early 90's when I got my first pair of Docs, or those things just aren't being made the way they used to). I like the distressing on these boots (it does make them kind of more grey than black, though). The only thing I wish I could change on them style-wise is the cap toe. I wish it was NOT a cap toe because it does lend a kind of combat boot feel to them, but they are a lot sleeker than combat boots so...Read more
