Keen Women's Pyrenees Waterproof Hiking Boot

I received these boots a little over a week ago as a replacement for my Vasque Fusion GTX that I hiked in for 8 years.

Before my first hike I wore these boots around the house for a couple of hours for about 3 days. They were comfortable from the start. I laced them up to the second hook from the top and they felt sturdy on my feet. There were slight pressure points along the top of the boot but they were brand new so they were naturally stiff.

I've already hiked 3 times for 14 miles in these Pyrenees boots.

On my first hike, I hiked up Kwaay Paay peak in Mission Trails Regional Park. It is rated moderately difficult with a 900' gain in 2.5 miles with most of the elevation gain in the last half mile. There was a semi-flat rock at a slight incline along the trail and I saw that it was lightly covered in sandy soil. I worried that these boots would not grip well and that I would lose my footing. Amazing Boots!!!! Felt so comfy that I barely walk outside without them. I usually wear an 8 1/2 so I ordered the 9 and it is a perfect fit.

I've hiked in these boots for a year now and am sad to say they will retire to be my yardwork boots. The non-Vibram soles completely wore out and got chewed up by the sharp edges of the rocks on the trails of the West and Southwest. I'm disappointed, as the boot itself is very comfortable with it's wide toe box. There was no breaking in as it was comfortable from the start. I'd like to see this same boot with a Vibram sole. Too bad Keen thinks all trails are smooth dirt.

It is true to size if you wear a thin sock. Get a half size larger if you wear a thick sock.
