FRYE Women's Paige Loop Pull-On Boot

I was very excited to find these at this price. However, they didn't match each other (one appears to not be as finished as the other), and that they had obviously been worn before. Not for days, but had enough scuffing on the sole that proved enough to me that the previous person who tried them didn't stay on the carpet.

I called Amazon to tell them that I wanted to return them, and wanted to let them know that I was not the person who wore them. The person on the other end offered me a partial refund if I kept them, and it was enough so that I agreed. Since then, I noticed how one of the boots seems like the leather edges aren't as finished as the other boot, and one of the shafts has leather that is a little more pebbled than the other. I'm guessing that they were probably a pair of seconds to begin with. Got these boots yesterday in plum color and for such great price. The leather is full grain, very thick. The boots look very expensive. These are my 1-st pair and I now I understand why they cost so much. I got them in 9.5, usually wear 9. There was no 9 for that price. Can't say that they are too big, they fit great with socks.
I think the boots would look great with jeans, not with skirts or dresses, because they are too bulky at the ankle area. As the leather is thick they are squeaking pretty loud which I don't like. I also wish Frye could make them in softer leather as these are made of really hard leather. Maybe that's why they are so durable.
BTW the soles are pretty slippery, think I should have to go to the shoe repair so they could put ridges on soles for better grip.

These boots are gorgeous. The leather is rich, and the boots are well-made. The price scared me off at first, but I finally decided to purchase these boots as a long-term investment. I'm hoping that these will last me several years. I got the boots in dark brown and they go really well with leggings and jeans. Like a previous reviewer said, the ankles are a little thick, so they might not look so great with a skirt or dress. Also, the leather is quite squeaky, so I'm trying to find a way to reduce the noise when I walk. The sole is also slippery, but with more scuffings, it should be fine. I see these as very nice riding boots to wear on nice occasions and weekend strolls. The right boot is a little tighter than the left, but that may vary with each pair.
