Franco Sarto Women's Rider Knee-High Boot

Despite the unfavorable reviews, these were exactly what I was looking for, and at a price I couldn't resist. I've replaced zippers on boots before, so thought at the very worst, I'll sew in new zippers if these break like they did for most of the other reviewers. Out of the box, they are a beautiful rich brown, really good looking boots. They fit perfectly, and I love the sleek minimalistic styling. So the zippers. They were so stiff they basically wouldn't move. I was happy to see that the zippers are metal, not the super cheap plastic zippers in the other version of the Franco Sarto Rider (the one with the elastic panel). So I mink oiled the boot, and generously applied mink oil to the zipper. And slowly the zippers started moving. A few inches up and down. It took about a half hour to do both zippers, but they are both zipping all the way up and all the way down fairly easily... still a little stiff. I normally wear a size 7 in shoes but needed to size down to a 6 1/2, as I have with other Franco Sarto shoes. These boots are classy. I have a 13" calf and find these to fit fine. Room to tuck jeans and yet not so loose that they look sloppy on their own. The button snap in the back adds interest. The quality of the leather is great. Would have given these boots 5 stars but the zippers do not move smoothly. I had to work at one boot in particular for a long time to get it so it wasn't sticking each time I would zip it up. I'm still not sure what the long term function will be since I just got them. Other reviewers have commented on problems with the zipper. It's worth a shot to try a pair, especially if you can find them with free return shipping. These boots can easily be worn with skirts or pants for a casual or dressy look, depending upon your preference.

No doubt these are gorgous looking boots on and off, but the quality is crap. The second time I wore them the stitching of the boot and zipper came undone. I bought these at Macy's for $169. No boot over $100 should ever fall apart, ever! I returned them and got the same pair and after the third time I wore them the same thing happened. Sorry Franco Sarto, your quality is terrible. Don't waste your time on buying these foots.
