Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near MunichDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing processDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tiresDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friendDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, Dr. Herbert FunckDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problemDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoesDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, then called Dr. MaertensDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, in other parts of the world. At firstDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. HoweverDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, the R. Griggs GroupDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, located in the village of Wollaston in EnglandDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960Dr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in EnglandDr. Martens Men's Occupational 8250 Boot,Black, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Amazon.com Product Review

Dr. Martens is known for rugged comfort and that holds true for the Cath boot. The nubby suede upper features traditional laces for a snug fit and a slight flap that folds over the top of the shaft. The thick sole features trademark comfort, cushioning, and traction, making this a boot you'll look forward to lacing up every day.

I really like these boots. They run slightly bigger than average, I would say. I'm usually an 8.5 but since they don't do half sizes I bought an 8. It seems to fit perfectly with boot (thick) socks. They are comfortable and sturdy, look awesome, and are slightly less chunky/heavy than your average Doc Marten boot (which I like). The brown is slightly darker in real life than in the picture.

Since it doesn't come in half sizes I bought the size above. Way too big. Can't walk in them even with socks inside. Very disappointed. I bought Dr, Martens last year and they were great but these are not. Look pretty, well made, uncomfortable.

These boots are very sturdy and super comfortable! They seem to run a TINY bit on the large size, but since they don't offer half sizes you can't really compensate for that. But the comfort of the heel makes up for that completely. They were a great price, and I'm certain they'll last me awhile. LOVE the laces, they've never come untied in the three months that I've had the shoes!

Heads up, I thought they were a little thinner and slightly daintier than they turned out to be, but I just needed work shoes so it's fine for me. Just be warned: they are pretty masculine.
