These Dr. Martens Heritage Holkam Steel Toe Boots are the classic gaucho volcano brown color. As a backpacker and forest ranger, I have often been frustrated when I tried to find "serious" boots which would fit my tiny feet (women's 5 or girl's 3). Of the eight pair of boots in my closet when I placed this order, my forty year-old Bambinos had been resoled five times and are my favorite boots. Three pair of Raichles failed to match them for comfort on long outings. I decided to take a chance on Doc Martens, and as soon as they arrived, I could tell I was going to be as happy with them as I had been with the Bambinos. The heel cups fit snugly, there is adequate room in both the toe and instep, and the Norwegian welt means that my snowshoe bindings will not slip off my heels. The Norwegian welt also means that when the time comes, I can have these boots resoled. The leather is supple and comfortable and the boots are sturdily constructed. My only objection is that the narrow tongue tends to slip sideways, but few boot manufacturers offer a means of securing the tongue at the top...Read more

I have bad feet but needed to get steel toe boots for work. I tried these on and right away they fit pretty good. I have orthotics which made the boots fit better for me, cause there is extra room in the front of the boot. (when does this happen? :))It has taken me about a week and a half to break them in. I say they are good quality boots. For someone like me they are a bit heavy since I'm not used to boots, only tennis shoes. I have picky feet and I think these are great.
