I'll go ahead and review the actual boots here, since the other review is completely useless for those of us actually looking to purchase these boots. They are NOT for those with thick calves. I knew that, and that is why I bought them--they are taller than most at 14" shaft height, and narrower at the opening too. I have very small calves and I wanted a nice fitted boot. They are that, for sure. I ordered a size 8 and they are true to size. I have wiggle room but couldn't wear a pair of very heavy socks though. They could have better traction--they feel slippery on certain surfaces, but hopefully I can scuff up the bottoms for better grip. The bottoms are covered with a felt-like material, which is a senseless choice for a rainboot and makes them slick. My biggest complaint is really the color; I got the khaki ones and really they are olive/army green. My husband says they look military, which isn't what I was going for at all. Having fairly narrow feet and a small frame, the size 8 boots that I bought fit me just perfectly! When I first put them on, the cuff seemed like it might be a hair tight but, in wearing them around the house to break them in, it looks like there will be plenty of room to tuck in leggings or skinny jeans come winter. They look to be very well constructed and very sturdy and, in bright red, they'll suit just fine at the school I work at.

A note on the sole that had been a concern to other reviewers: Mine don't appear to have a felted type material on the bottom but they are gathering dust from my hard floors. Hopefully it won't be a problem when the promised rain finally starts coming.

*Edit after several wears: Very comfortable and warm! Just fine through flooded streets and 20 degree wind chills and snow flurries alike!
