Protect you feet in the sturdy and warm Columbia Bugatech Lite Omni-Heat(TM) boots.

Amazon.com Product Review

Designed with advanced Omni-Heat® technology, this flexible, ultra-light evolution of the Bugaboot is like wrapping your feet in a waterproof space blanket. The ultra-slim Techlite® shell adds protection in critical areas without sacrificing nimble-footed mobility on snowy terrain. Made of rugged ballistic waterproof mesh, the upper features protective Thermoplastic support panels for added stability in deep-snow conditions, while Omni-Heat technology reflects natural body heat back into the boot where it belongs. The Contour Comfort® 1D footbed with AgION® anti-odor treatment provides cushioned comfort and support, while the Zonal Techlite lightweight shell provides warmth and moisture control in critical areas around the foot. A 200g Thinsulate® lining with additional underfoot insulation adds even more warmth, keeping your foot comfortable all the way down to -25º below zero. Completing this high-performance package is an Omni-Grip® outsole with lugged traction patterns for outstanding grip in any winter wonderland.

I bought both the Columbia Bugaboot and Bugatech for myself at the tail end of this winter season. Both size 8. I fall between a 7.5 and 8 in shoe size and the Columbia 8 fits pretty true to size. I can easily wear thick socks with either boot comfortably without my feet swimming inside or feeling cramped. Each is padded with Omni-heat in the interior and is rated by the company to -25*. I haven't had a chance to test either boot to that temperature (it only got to the mid 20s before the temperatures began climbing again) but either boot is supportive, warm, with a comfortable, anti-microbial, removable footbed. From the photos I uploaded, you can see the Bugatech's sole is noticeably narrower and very slightly shorter than the Bugaboot. The Bugatech also has a shorter shaft made of canvas treated with Omni-tech water repellant while the Bugaboot is leather (also Omni-tech treated), so both boots are waterproof. I weighed both on a shipping scale and the Bugatech (1 lb 3 oz) was 5 oz...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so hot, December 28, 2011
Upstate NY - See all my reviews

This boot does NOT keep my feet warm in upstate New York in the winter, while moving or standing still. Omni-heat is not so warm, quite frankly. In addition, never before have I gotten blisters on my calves from boots. This boot collar rubbed against my calf so badly that I had an inch long blister on each one. To heck with breaking them in. Wore them twice. Won't wear them again. A complete and utter waste of money.

I tried these on when I received them in the mail and walked around my home. I noticed that they were very stiff around the top and in the heel, but wanted to try walking outdoors before I judged them. Well, snow didn't come until Dec. and I went on a short hike in the park. The top cut into my shin so bad when I walked, I had to loosen the shoe strings. When I did that, my foot was looser in the boot and I got the worst blisters on my heels that I'm still hurting from 3 weeks later! I tried to break the boots in but I don't even want them anymore and now it's too late to return them for full refund. They are definitely not made for much walking. If you're just standing around watching your kids play in the snow, I suppose they'll work if you want to pay that much money. Other than that, forget it.
